Giorgi Rukhadze: The authorities by their actions deliberately cut off all paths for negotiations

There was no need to use force. We have often seen how the violence of the authorities against citizens turns against the authorities. An obvious mistake of the authorities was today’s briefing by Kobakhidze, who disparaged the thousands of people who came to express their protest. And the use of water cannons during a pandemic is generally beyond all reason. There are two components that are required for common success, international support and people’s unity. There is no doubt about the first, the second depends on us.

In a joint statement by the US Embassy and the European Union Delegation, all the conditions for starting a dialogue were named and it was especially noted that only through dialogue it is possible to restore confidence in the current elections. However, the authorities by their actions deliberately cut off all paths for negotiations.

Unfortunately, we have one and the same problem in all elections – the authorities are constantly trying to steal people’s votes. But if earlier it was on a limited scale, today the size of falsifications has exceeded all reasonable limits. If today our generation does not solve this issue, we will leave this problem to our children. If we lose now Georgia will have 1984 according to George Orwell.
