Vano Matchavariani: Ivanishvili does not care about anything, it is important for him to stay in power
If the government wanted to negotiate, it would itself initiate the vote count. But they do not make any concessions, they call their opponents criminals and sonders. Against this backdrop, Gakharia’s statement about the talks is an attempt to calm our international partners to gain time, in the hope that the opposition and its supporters will get tired.
Yesterday’s excessive use of force against opposition representatives once again demonstrates the readiness of the Georgian Dream and Ivanishvili to treat their opponents and a very large part of the population as ordinary enemies. This means that very little remains of Georgian democracy. It seems that Ivanishvili doesn’t give a damn about anything, it is important for him to stay in power.
