Vano Machavariani: The visit of Secretary of State Pompeo gives at least some hope for change.
The current authorities have done everything so that there are no strategically important infrastructure projects in Georgia. Important from the point of view of external players, and Anaklia is a very prime example of this. A formal and very routine military and security relationship with the United States is the minimum that is possible with a partner like Washington.
The Georgian Dream really achieved its goal, Moscow is happy, it has nothing to worry about, and from this point of view, the visit of Secretary of State Pompeo gives at least some hope for change. It’s just that the geopolitical alignment in the Caucasus has changed, and the States cannot but react to this.
