Two strategies for moving towards NATO
There are two possible strategies for moving towards NATO membership. The first is to coordinate plans for rapprochement with the Alliance, gradually implement them and hope for a transition over time to the next level of relations. The second is to initially set super-high goals for itself – and Georgia has chosen it. It is important that neither Germany nor France oppose Georgia’s joining NATO at all. Moreover, they are actively helping with our adaptation to the norms of the Alliance. Their position looks like this: you can accept it, not now, but sometime later.
